Rochdale and Oldham are too close for comfort
Too close? That is, in the opinion of a Hull K.R. fan in this week's Rugby League Express!
Regarding the Rochdale v Hull KR match. Congratulations to both teams on a very entertaining game that was played in atrocious conditions. Pity
then that I should have something detrimental to say about the match, but more to the point the match referee, I Smith (Oldham).
He found it fit to sin-bin a Rovers player for obstruction and, in the ten minutes he was off, Rochdale scored eight points to bring them level.
Then with just over ten minutes to go, Taewa of Rovers was taken out off the ball with an elbow (nothing).
A minute later Everitt was hit by one hell of a high-tackle clearly seen by all. A straight case of sending off but the referee takes the get-out option
and puts the player on report.
These decisions and by a referee that comes from Oldham, only three miles from Rochdale and 87 miles from Hull makes you think and wonder
what the outcome of this match might have been had he not made these bad decisions.
