Pie-eaters close to completing deal
Forget Robbie Fowler - the transfer saga we're really interested looks close to a conclusion.
Despite cautious denials from all parties concerned, the Rochdale Observer's publication of the 'Scully's off to
Wigan' story is the latest - and biggest - clue that the deal's done.
But despite all the speculation, we can confirm that the wheels are still in motion.
Following a conversation this morning, we're led to believe that the formalities will be completed within the next 48 hours
and we'll bring you news as soon as we have it.
Signed from Warrington on the 30th April 1998 aged 19, Danny played 91 games for Hornets (19 as sub), scoring 6 tries and 3 drop goals.
But it's his inspirational try-making abilities that we'll remember him for. Big and rangy, Danny can kick and pass both ways -
talent rare in most half backs these days.
Add this to his almost instinctive ability to drop 30 yard passes on a sixpence and
you'll agree that Wigan have acquired the last of British Rugby League's great ball-handling prop forwards.
Raised on a diet of Andy Farrell, looks like the pie-eaters are about to get a taste of what a real class forward is capable of.
