| Tony Humphries roars | 05/09/2001 | In the News | |
Ex-Hornets favourite Tony Humphries has been appointed the new coach of Swinton Lions. Tony left Hornets in the early 90s to become Swinton's captain.
Tony will replace Mike Gregory, who left the club last month, and the Lions have also appointed Mark Sheals, a former team-mate, as Humphries’ assistant. "Tony has a great knowledge and experience of both professional and amateur Rugby League," Lions chairman Malcolm White told the Manchester Evening News. "He also brings with him an infectious enthusiasm and a sense of humour. I am sure he will bring a good spirit to our dressing room. "I also feel he will display the same will to win as he showed as a player." The Lions have also appointed three new directors to the Swinton board — businessmen Frank Evans, Cliff Leonard and Richard Taylor. "With these new appointments, the club will be surrounded by people who have the best interests of Swinton at heart," added White. |
