Robins in turmoil as Howard is suspended
Hull KR may have handed Hornets a chink of encouragement ahead of Sunday's clash. Following the release of four experienced players and the desire to sednd a fifth out on loan, coach Harvey Howard has been suspended from his duties this afternoon (Thursday) with immediate effect.
A statement issued by the club said the board of directors had invited Mr Howard to discuss a number of allegations relating to his conduct and duties as head coach.
However, he had not yet met with officials and therefore the club said it had no option other than to suspend him, pending a full investigation.
The statement said: "The board appreciates and understands that this is a critical stage of the season and will endeavour to resolve the situation as soon as practically possible. The players have resolved to ensure that their preparation for this weekends game is unaffected. To that end James Webster will temporarily take charge of team affairs in liaison with Phil Lowe - director of rugby.
"The board will make no further comments until after the weekend and pending finalisation of the matter."
