Tommy and Bob make the headlines
Hornets’ very own Tommy Hodgkinson has been named as the LHF Healthplan National League One player of the month for August in the latest edition of Rugby League World magazine.
At the start of Hornets’ 2004 season Tommy ‘Hodge’ was playing amateur Rugby League with St Helens club Thatto Heath but he was tempted back into the professional game at the age of 34 by the Bobster.
Since then front-rower Hodgkinson has been a major force behind Hornets’ LHF League One revival that has taken them to within striking distance of NL1 survival and a shot at a top six finish.
Bobbie says: “Tommy has been outstanding for us and I’ve the utmost respect for the guy.
“He brings to the party every quality you can hope for in a player – determination, fitness and professionalism”.
And the Bobster himself stars in a major three page feature in this month’s Rugby League World; telling the story of how he’s rebuilt our club from nothing and assembled a bunch of big-hearted lads who’ve performed miracles.
“If you believe in what you’re doing and you keep going down that avenue, you will not fail,”says Goulding as he discusses his “...sneaky feeling that we could push the top six...”.
