Sunday's Coming
There’s little doubt that the sole purpose of Sunday’s game is to get the Warrington game out of our systems. A solid performance will go some way to soothing the ache left by Tuesday night’s lesson in high-speed, clinical Rugby League.
And with Halifax no doubt itching to erase the memory of their Cup exit in France last week, two teams with a point to prove should make for an interesting contest.
Halifax coach Tony Anderson will be keen for pivotal ‘roving playmaker’ Pat Weisner to recover from the hamstring injury picked up in Limoux last week, but other than that he’ll be fielding much the same team as played at Spotland three weeks ago.
Andersdon will be concerned however that, according to reports, his side was ‘outmuscled’ for the 80 minutes by Les Grizzlies. The effect was that they struggled to set up attacks and were pushed into a catalogue of unforced errors.
A good opportunity, then, for Bobbie Goulding’s big pack to re-establish a bit of confidence after the battering they took in the week.
Indeed, if Hornets were reeling as much as we were after Tuesday, it’ll have been an interesting week in training. All the players can do is try and apply the harsh lessons they were taught and gain back the belief that - at National League level, at least - they have the ability to compete.
So, Sunday provides a cathartic opportunity for all of us. Let’s get ourselves over to the Shay and get behind the lads. We’ll be in the main stand. See you there.
