At last - Sunday's coming!
Normal service is resumed - well, nearly - on Sunday as Hornets travel to Dewsbury Rams.
Hot on the heels of a thumping by Sh... er... Whitehaven, the Rams will be keen to eradicate the errors that littered last weeks defeat. The game also throws up Danny Wood's first game against Hornets since his move back to Ram Stadium. Currently playing at centre, he seems to have taken his kicking boots over the Pennines with him - so no daft penalties will be the order of the day.
Catching the eye last week was scrum-half Craig Nipperess (which is probably a bit rude if said in a Japanese accent) whose varied passing game and nimble feet came as close as anything to worrying a Whitehaven side that cruised past the 50-mark with 38 second half points.
Reports also commented on prop Paul Hicks' pink streaked hair- ooh, is he in for some stick?
Hornets, though, have been kicking their heels for three weeks - and that can't be good. While it gave niggly injuries time to heal, it has somewhat buffered the momentum we gained. But its not all bad either.
Mecurial out-half Radney Bowker has had his loan spell extended - if we could only afford to sign him. A group of supporters are already chipping in £50 each to keep him for as long as possible - if you want to contribute, you can contact me on the email address below and I?ll pass on your details.
Along with Ian Watson we have quite possibly the most effective half back combination in the division. Cynics might say that if they'd stayed at Salford, the Reds might not be scrambling to catch up with us and Leigh - but we couldn't possibly comment.
Elsewhere, Hally will probably stay with the side that demolished Doncaster (Oldham's defeat there last week shows how big a win that really was) with the possible inclusion of Casey Mayberry.
Having had three weeks off, it's imperative that Hornets get back with a win. It'll keep the pressure on Leigh and keep Salford at arm's length in third. And, if you're like me, you'll be gagging for a game. Dewsbury's about threequarters of an hour up the M62 - so you've got no excuses.
With Salford at Doncaster and Leigh at the Biffs on Sunday, this is a key game to win. The support at Doncaster was excellent - and was a factor in Hornets raising their game. Similarly, your presence at Dewsbury is needed if we - together, as a club - are to maintain our progress.
If you need directions to Dewsbury, you can e-mail Jim at stringer_jim@hotmail.com - the more we take, the better it'll be. Three weeks without a game - could you possibly miss this one? You'd be barmy if you did. See you there.
