Hornets 46 Barrow 32
Barrow predictions
From Ananova : Rochdale Hornets survived a stirring Barrow fightback as they battled to a 46-32 victory in the Northern Ford Premiership.
The Hornets opened in scintillating fashion as Paul Smith finished off a superb set move to score with Danny Wood adding the extras.
And Hornets followed that up soon after with two tries in two minutes as Latham Tawhai sliced through on 12 minutes and then Wood pounced on a Tawhai kick-through.
Wood converted both tries to put the hosts comfortably ahead.
Barrow were on the back foot but gradually they lifted their game and it came as no surprise when Iain Marsh scored out wide to bring them back in touch.
But that score was cancelled out three minutes before the break when Warren Ayres offloaded to James Bunyan and he powered over from close range.
After the break Hornets looked to be coasting to an easy victory as tries from Higgins, Ayres, Davidson and Tawhai put them 46-4 ahead.
But Barrow staged a remarkable comeback as Radney Bowker scored a hat-trick within a five-minute spell.
Gary Winstanley made it four tries in eight minutes as the visitors continued to press but despite Andrew Henderson's score in the 68th minute, Hornets clung on to take the points.
